PCGS Currency celebrated its fourth annual Set Registry award dinner at the Blues City Café in Memphis in conjunction with the International Paper Money Show. More than 75 attendees enjoyed the catered event that included barbecue, catfish, and ribs in traditional Memphis festivity on Beale Street.
This small annual event has now become one of the most popular Memphis show highlights, and invites have become highly coveted. According to PCGS Currency Vice President Laura A. Kessler, "the success of the Set Registry has snowballed, and the Set Registry award dinner has become the 'place to be' for collectors and participants at Memphis. Almost twice the number of people attended this year as last year, and we expect with continued growth in the PCGS Currency Set Registry that we will continue to expand the scope of sets to include more and more participants."
The PCGS Currency Set Registry Award's dinner has grown in size and scope every year, and the number of attendees has grown with the exponential growth of the Set Registry. More than 200 participants are currently competing with more than 2,000 individual sets.
This year we honored not only our Set Registry winners, but also introduced our first Hall of Fame inductee, Kraig Tripp. We also presented our first anual "Emard Award" to Larry Emard for his loyalty to PCGS Currency's Set Registry. This award will be presented to one dealer every year as a way of showing our gratitude for their dedication to our company.
A short video film created especially for this event introduced the winners in each category, while trophies and award plaques were presented by Laura A. Kessler, Vice President of PCGS Currency. We will have the video created espicially for the dinner uploaded on the PCGS Currency Youtube page.
Several award winners were present, including three Set Registry top set owners who generously displayed their winning sets at the PCGS Currency table at the Memphis show. Pictures of these sets as well as others from the evening may be viewed on the PCGS Currency's Facebook page.
