PCGS Currency recently welcomed a new addition to our grading staff. Nicholas Coombs joined the PCGS Currency team of experts earlier this summer.
Nick is a graduate of The University of Wisconsin-Madison with an honors degree in Art History (BA) and a second degree in Geography (BA). He is fluent in Japanese, French and Latin, and has what he describes as a "passable" working knowledge of Mandarin. He has traveled extensively throughout the world, and is an avid history afficianado.
He is a lifelong collector of currency, and his collecting interests span the entire spectrum of American Financial history. His collection includes notes from the pre-Federal period such as Colonial and Continental Currency and Obsolete Banknotes, and extends to the Federal period with both Large Size and Small Size notes. Civil War era notes, especially Confederate issues, form an emphasis of his collecting pursuits.
In addition to his currency collecting interests, Nick has an avid interest in sports is a sports memorabilia collector. He is a fan of his alma mater's Wisconsin Badgers, as well as the Green Bay Packers. Although he grew up in the Bay Area of Northern California, he also roots for the Los Angeles Dodgers franchise.
Our team is delighted to welcome Nick to our team of experts, and we expect him to contribute immediately to our pool of knowledge. PCGS Currency now has 10 professional currency experts on staff with more than 160 years of combined numismatic experience. Our team of experts, our pool of knowledge in all areas of United States and World paper money, and our experience in grading nearly 500,000 notes since our founding in 2005, gives us an unmatched ability to provide the most accurate and consistent grades of any paper money grading service.
